2025 O&P Art Contest Information
Inspired by conversations with members at our Conference in Fredericton, OPC is pleased to announce the inaugural O&P Art Contest! What do Orthotics and Prosthetics represent to you? We are inviting practitioners, patients and all those affected by the craft to flex your creative muscles and submit their original artwork to this one-of-a-kind event. Winners in the primary categories below will be voted on by the membership online and announced during National O&P Day celebrations on September 19th. General Original Artwork
This could be anything digital or physical art inspired by the use of an Orthotic/Prosthetic device, the relationship between practitioner and patient, and beyond. Abstract or grounded in the reality of more mobile existence, all creative entries will be considered. Prize: $500 CAD Closed Device Art
Are you proud of the artwork you created to add flair and/or meaning to one of your devices? Submit it to this category to share it with the whole industry! Prize: $250 CAD Closed Photography
Have a great photo that you feel represents the profession or the role of O&P in everyday life in an impactful manner? This is the category for you. Prize: $250 CAD Closed Bonus: Swag
All entries will be considered for use on OPC swag (t-shirts, mugs, etc.) that would then be made available to the public for purchase. Any artist selected for this category, chosen by OPC volunteers, will be provided with up to $250 worth of the swag we create! ClosedThese Contest Rules apply to the O&P Art Contest (“Contest”) that is administered by Orthotics Prosthetics Canada ("OPC"). By participating or attempting to participate in the Contest governed by these Rules you will be deemed to have received, understood, and agreed to these Rules. No purchase is necessary for participating in the Contest. 1. Eligibility To be eligible for the Contest the participants (“Entrants”) must: - be a legal resident of and the age of majority in Canada; - be the sole owner of all right, title and interest (including copyright) in and to the Submission (as defined below) submitted in connection with the Contest; and - not be an employee of OPC or a family member of one. 2. How to Enter The Entrants may participate in the Contest by providing their details and submitting their artwork in digital format (either a photo or a drawing) on the webpage: www.OPCanada.ca (“Submission”). 3. Contest Period. There is no purchase necessary to enter the Contest. The Entrants may make Submissions during the period starting on May 23, 2025 and ending on August 25, 2025, at 11:59pm ET The results of the Contest and the winners will be announced during National O&P Day celebrations on September 19, 2025. 4. Categories. The Submissions shall be made and the prizes awarded in the following categories of the Contest: - General Original Artwork. Artwork inspired by the use of an Orthotic/Prosthetic device, the relationship between practitioner and patient. Number of winners: 1 winner Prize: $500 CAD - Device Art. Artwork created to add flair and/or meaning to an Orthotic/Prosthetic device Number of winners: 1 winner Prize: $250 CAD - Photography. Photographs that represent the Orthotist and/or Prosthetist profession or the role of Orthotic/Prosthetic devices in everyday life in an impactful manner Number of winners: 1 winner Prize: $250 CAD - Bonus. Submissions for all categories will be considered for use on OPC swag (t-shirts, mugs, etc.) that would then be made available to the public for purchase. Number of winners: TBD based on submissions Prize: the winner in this category will be provided with up to $250 in OPC swag utilizing the Submission Each Entrant shall be entitled to make multiple Submissions for each category, except for the Bonus category, for which all Submissions for any of the categories will be considered and no separate Submissions will be accepted.
5. Selection of the Winners and Awards The winners for each category of the Contest shall be selected by voting of the Members of OPC (as defined in the OPC By-laws) based on the description of the categories outlined above. The winners will be publicly announced during National O&P Day and may be mentioned in the official publications of OPC. Except as otherwise indicated by OPC, a winner must personally take delivery of the prize as instructed by OPC within 30 days of being notified that such prize is available or within such other time period as may reasonably be advised. 6. Copyrights and Licence By accepting the prize and in consideration of the prize, the winner shall grant to OPC a perpetual, worldwide and irrevocable licence to copy, use, reproduce, display, and transmit the Submission for use solely in connection with marketing communications and materials of OPC (including, but not limited to posts on the social media and the website of OPC) and, for the winners in the Bonus category, on the swag (t-shirts, mugs, etc.) which will be available for purchase by the general public. Except as outlined above, the winner shall retain all right, title and interest (including copyright) in and to the Submission. The Entrant hereby confirms that the Submission is an original artwork, solely created by the Entrant, and that no third party participated as an author, co-author, photographer or otherwise in the creation of the Work or any part thereof. OPC assumes no responsibility for any claims of infringement of rights to copyright, privacy and/or personality, and the Entrant shall bear all such liability. 7. Limitation of Liability The Entrant represents to OPC that the Submission does not infringe any copyright interest of any third party and that the Submission is not defamatory. OPC reserves the right to exclude any Submission on the basis of concerns relating to the rights of third parties. OPC assumes no responsibility or liability in the event that the Contest cannot be conducted as planned for any reason, including those reasons beyond the control of OPC, such as infection by computer virus, unauthorized intervention, fraud or technical failures. 8. Privacy and Use of Personal Information. By participating in the Contest, each Entrant: - (i) grants to OPC the right to use their personal information provided when they enter the Contest and make Submission (“Personal Information”) in accordance with the OPC privacy policy for the purpose of administering the Contest, including but not limited to selecting, contacting and announcing the winners and the distribution of the Contest prizes; - (iii) grants to OPC the right to use their Personal Information for publicity and promotional purposes relating to the Contest in any and all media without further compensation unless prohibited by law; and - (iii) consents OPC disclosing their Personal Information to third-parties and service providers of OPC in connection with any of the activities listed in (i) and/or (ii) above. 9. Applicable Law. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of the Rules or the rights and obligations as between the Entrant and OPC in connection with the Contest shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the province of Ontario. 10. Amendments OPC reserves the right to change category details, deadline time(s) and date(s) for making Submissions and make other amendments to these Rules by posting a notice of the above on the Contest webpage www.OPCanada.ca. 11.
