Clinician Researcher: Certified Prosthetist or Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist

The Rehabilitation Centre for Children (RCC), located in the exquisite and unique, multi-agency SSCY Centre in Winnipeg supports children and youth throughout Manitoba and beyond in realizing their potential and participating in their communities.

RCC is seeking an innovative individual with an interest in prosthetics research and product development and demonstrated excellence in pediatric prosthetics to join our interdisciplinary team.  

-Collaborate in an integrated patient care experience with our interdisciplinary team of orthopaedic surgeons, orthotists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, mechanical and computer engineers, clinical technologists, social workers, SSCY partners and more.  

-Enjoy protected time (1 to 2 days/week) for research, product development, quality improvement, education and teaching of residents included in our competitive salary and benefits package.

-Experience the benefits of our brand new facility with state-of-the-art technology which includes 3D printers, CAD-CAM technology, 3D carver.  

-Engage in our partnership with the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation which provides funding for: staff attendance at national and international educational events, research and acquisition of advanced pediatric technologies.   

The successful candidate will possess:

Certification as a Certified Prosthetist, CP(c) or Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist by the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists.  Member in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada or eligibility for same.  Member in good standing of the Manitoba Orthotics Prosthetics Association or eligibility for same.
Demonstrated experience with research, evaluation and quality improvement. Masters degree in a related field preferred.
Associated medical or technical training an asset 
3-5 years experience in a pediatric clinical setting preferred.
Experience with OPIE Software considered an asset.
Experience with P&O CAD-CAM technology considered an asset.
Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check required.
Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid work permit issued by the Government of Canada.
