 Graduate of a recognized technical Prosthetic and Orthotic program

 Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician registration with the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists

 Membership in the Canadian Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists preferred

 3-4 years related experience

 Ability to work as a member of a team

 Ability to work with your hands

 Demonstrated ability to meet production timelines

 Evidence of commitment to continuous education

 Good communication and organizational skills

 Strong technical aptitude

 Basic computer skills

 Experience with microprocessor and myoelectric prostheses preferred

 Evidence of good performance history and attendance record

 Should be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors



 Manufacture a wide range of prosthetic and orthotic devices while ensuring patient safety and high quality by following prescriptions provided and manufacturer recommendations.

 Trouble-shoot devices that are not working optimally by diagnosing and servicing the componentry.

 Advise clinical staff of fabricating options (cosmesis, strength of device and suitability) by utilizing information gathered from manufacturers of materials/components and comparison studies.

 Develop and maintain fabricating skills and procedures through continuing education.

 Instruct and supervise work term students and volunteers by providing guidance and support.

 Provide back-up coverage to Senior Prosthetic and Orthotic Technician during planned absences and as required.

 Assist in the promotion of the department as directed by manager.

 Perform any other duties at the manager’s request that are deemed relevant to the position.
