Qualifications:

 Graduate of a recognized post graduate clinical prosthetic and orthotic program

 Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist with the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO) and member in good standing

 Membership in the Ontario Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (O.A.P.O) preferred

 3-5 years related experience

 Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

 Basic computer skills

 Demonstrated ability to meet production timelines

 Evidence of commitment to continuous education

 Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

 Experience working with computerized assisted design (CADCAM)

 Fully versed in both clinical and technical methods of fabricating and fitting devices

 Well-developed clinical problem solving skills

 Well-developed technical hand skills

 Experience with trunk, cranial and hand orthoses preferred

 

Accountabilities:

 Responsible for evaluating, designing, fabricating, fitting and delivering orthotic devices as well as all related follow up care.

 Provide patient care to treat conditions of the neuro-muscular skeletal system with custom-made or custom-fit orthoses.

 Liaise with physicians and therapists on issues related to orthotic care Participate in the client follow-up process by communicating with multidisciplinary professionals, conducting post orthotic clinic visits and making any adjustments necessary to ensure optimal functional use by the client.

 Participate in Ambulatory Clinics through the provision of orthotic expertise and authorization of devices required.

 Expected to conduct own technical fabrications of devices as prescribed and ability to communicate all specific details to the Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician when necessary.

 Ensure on-going client follow-up and billing by maintaining timely and accurate client records using the SOAP format.

 Repair devices as necessary.

 Responsible for building and developing orthotic business relationships with medical professionals and identifying appropriate opportunities in all aspects of orthotic treatment in conjunction with the manager.

 Responsible for managing all orthotic clinical and technical duties.

 Perform any other duties that are deemed relevant to the position at the manager request.

 Be aware of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors including:

o Compliance with the safety standards of the hospital and applicable legislation

o Identification and prevention of safety issues and problems

o Taking corrective action, where possible

o Attendance at safety meetings/training/updates in accordance with the Centre’s standards

 Evidence of good performance history and attendance record.
